Mud gas separators sit adjacent to the mud solids control system and are used only when the drilling formation contains toxic and hazardous gases. Although not frequently used, the mud gas separator is extremely reliable safety equipment and vital to today’s drilling operations. It is used to safely separate and vent large pockets of free gas which may include toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide, etc. of the drilling fluid processing system.
Additionally, the sludge gas separator baffle plates inside the vessel create maximum free gas removal.

The Mud Gas Separator (Poor Boy Degasser) is designed specifically for onshore drilling operations. The operating principle of the poor degasser is simple. Gas-mixed drilling mud in the wellbore is transferred by mud return lines to the inlet of the mud gas separator, allowing it to impinge on a series of baffles that separate the gas from the drilling mud. The free gas flows to the flare line to be burned and the slurry is discharged to the vibrating screen and slurry tank. FCOMGSEP1000A series mud gas separator combined with electric ignition device can be used to ensure the safety of drilling process. It is divided into normal pressure sludge gas separator and automatic pressure control sludge gas separator according to pressure.
